Wagga Wagga school fire

In the early hours of this morning firefighters from Wagga Wagga and Turvey Park responded to a school on fire in Johnston Street in Wagga Wagga. Fire crews were on the scene in five minutes to find smoke billowing from a large building that contained classrooms and an administration area. Firefighters were confronted with a large fire that was quickly spreading through the roof void. The quick actions of fire crews cut the fire off, preventing further damage, and with assistance from firefighters from Gundagai, Temora and Albury North the fire was extinguish. The building suffered damage with three classrooms destroyed and other areas smoke logged.
