Published: 25th January 2008
At 11 am today The NSW Fire Brigades' Employees Union (FBEU) as part of a wages campaign has called an immediate stop work meeting of all firefighters in the Sydney metropolitan area apart from a small number of Rescue units. This means that there will be delays in the NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) responding to emergency calls in the Sydney metropolitan area. Non urgent jobs may not be attended to at this time however the Brigade will endeavour to maintain response coverage with the remaining crews.
The public should still call Triple Zero (000) for all major emergencies. The NSWFB has sought urgent intervention from the Industrial Relations Commission and has sought a hearing before the Commission at 12 noon today.
