Taxi Fire, Victoria Road, Ryde

Published: 18th January 2008

At 2.00pm this afternoon, Firefighters from Gladesville were called to a taxi fire on Victoria Road at Ryde. The firefighters arrived to find the taxi totally engulfed in flames. The crew set about extinguishing the fire using high pressure hose lines and foam. They also set up an exclusion zone around the taxi due to it having an LPG cylinder on board. This caused the closure of Victoria Road. The fire was quickly extinguished allowing Victoria Road to be partly reopened. Firefighters remained on scene until salvage crews removed the taxi at 3.30 pm.
