Motor vehicle accident at Concord

Published: 13th November 2007

This afternoon firefighters from Concord and Burwood attended a serious car accident near the M4 interchange, on Homebush Bay Drive. There were several vehicles involved in the accident with a driver trapped in a vehicle that had come to rest on its side. Once fire protection was set up and the vehicle stabilised, ambulance officers could safely access the patient. Fire crews then began the delicate process of extricating the trapped driver. Once removed from the vehicle the driver was flown by helicopter to hospital. Firefighters assisted to clear the road and after two hours the major arterial road was reopened, although traffic congestion lasted for some time.
