Fire Brigades increases commitment to storm recovery efforts

Published: 11th December 2007

On Wednesday 12 December the NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) will increase its commitment to storm recovery efforts, deploying up to 60 fire engines and 220 fire officers to assist the SES as they work to help residents impacted by Sunday's violent hail storms.

Fire crews will be working predominantly in the west and south-west of Blacktown, one of the worst affected areas.

Today, 40 fire engines and 170 fire officers were deployed to assist the SES in the some of the worst affected areas around Blacktown, Baulkham Hills, Prospect, Huntingwood and surrounding suburbs.

The NSWFB teams are assisting the SES by placing tarpaulins on damaged roofs, door-knocking the area to conduct damage and risk assessments and helping the SES to identify properties requiring the most urgent assistance.
