Homebush West unit fire

Fire crews from Lidcombe, Concord and Burwood responded to a fire in a residential home unit in Hampstead Road in Homebush West this afternoon. Firefighters were at the scene within five minutes to find smoke billowing from a ground floor unit in the two level building. All occupants were accounted for and crews contained the fire to the room in which the fire started. After extinguishing the blaze firefighters completed a thorough search, used a large fan to clear smoke from the unit and assisted with clean up work. Twenty five people were evacuated from neighbouring buildings during the incident.
