Car fire in Smithfield

This afternoon firefighters from Smithfield, Merrylands, Fairfield, Wentworthville, Liverpool and Parramatta were called to a fire in an industrial building in Warren Road at Smithfield. The first fire crews to arrive found smoke pouring from the single level building and after investigation discovered a car on fire inside the premises. Firefighters worked quickly to prevent the fire spreading to other vehicles with one car destroyed and 10 others damaged. Crews ventilated the heavily smoke logged building. One person suffered smoke inhalation and heat stress and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance officers.
