Malabar house fire

In the early hours of this morning firefighters from Matraville, Maroubra, Botany and Randwick responded to a fire in a house in Austral Street in Malabar. The first fire crews arrived to find two rooms of the single level house ablaze. Crews quickly contained and extinguished the fire within half an hour saving the majority of the premises. A thermal imaging camera was used to check that fire had not penetrated the roof cavity. Four people were evacuated from the house with one person taken to hospital suffering from burns and shock.
