Fire in panel beaters at Artarmon

Published: 10th October 2007

Fire crews from Lane Cove, Crows Nest, Willoughby, Drummoyne, Neutral Bay, Gladesville, Greenacre and Alexandria responded to a fire in a two level building in Clarendon Street Artarmon in the early hours of this morning. Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received and the first firefighters arrived at the address within five minutes to find smoke billowing from the top storey which was ablaze. Fire crews set up fire hoses to protect adjacent properties under threat and contained the fire to the top level. A hydraulic ladder fire engine was used to help extinguish the fire. The building suffered extensive damage and there was a partial wall collapse. Fire crews were able to prevent the spread of the fire to the ground floor area.
