The NSWFB assisted in the clean up following the massive hail storm in Lismore on Tuesday 9 October. Some 650 jobs were reported to the SES and the NSWFB assisted by dealing with over 120 of these jobs. Fire crews from Lismore, Goonellabah, Casino, Tweed Heads and Ballina were involved in the lengthy clean up operation with assistance mainly for roof and window damage. Two privately owned cherry pickers were also used. One of the jobs involved making safe the roof of City Hall to allow workers to go back inside, contractors finished the repairs later.
