Factory fire at Mount Druitt

Published: 24th September 2007

This evening firefighters from Mount Druitt, St Marys, Dunheved, Huntingwood and Blacktown responded to a fire in a factory in Coventry Place at Mount Druitt. The first fire crews arrived within five minutes to find flames leaping through the roof of the single storey factory. After forcing entry into the building, firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading and saved the back half of the building. A thermal imaging camera was used to ensure that the blaze was completely extinguished and to take temperature readings on an acetylene cylinder that was found inside the building. The cylinder had vented in the fire so fire crews were able complete the ventilation of the building using large fans. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
