Building fire in Kyle Bay

Fire crews from Hurstville, Mortdale, Kogarah, Miranda, Riverwood, Campsie and hazmat specialists from Greenacre responded to a fire in a club in Merriman Street at Kyle Bay this evening. Firefighters found the two storey building heavily smoke logged with a fire on both levels. While fire crews ensured that all people had evacuated and been accounted for, several other fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze. The fire had spread into the roof so firefighters used a thermal imaging camera from a hydraulic ladder truck to monitor fire spread. Firefighters extinguished the fire in less than two hours, ventilated both levels and carried out clean up work. The building suffered extensive damage.
