Fire in a unit block at Woollahra

This evening firefighters from Woollahra, Darlinghurst, Randwick and Bondi responded to a fire in a three level block of units in Nelson Street at Woollahra. Fire crews arrived within six minutes to find the fuse box in the foyer on fire with the building filling with smoke. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus began extinguishing the blaze while other crews carried out a search of all levels and assisted with the evacuation of 20 residents. One person suffered smoke inhalation and, after extinguishing the switchboard, crews ventilated the building before allowing residents to re-enter their units.
