House fire at Auburn
Published: 8th August 2007
Firefighters from Lidcombe, Silverwater and Chester Hill responded to a house on fire in Water Street at Auburn this morning. The first fire crews to arrive found smoke and flames coming from a single level house that contained two units with a brick separation wall and a common roof. All of the occupants of the units were accounted for, with one person treated by ambulance officers at the scene. Firefighters entered the smoke filled building wearing breathing apparatus to quickly extinguish the blaze. Fire crews used a positive pressure fan to ventilate the units and a thermal imaging camera confirmed that there were no hot spots remaining and that the fire had not extended to the roof space. A gas detector was used to check the air quality and crews carried out clean up work to minimise further damage.
