Office fire in Sydney
Published: 22nd August 2007
This evening the NSWFB responded to an automatic fire alarm in a building in Kent Street in Sydney. Firefighters from Pyrmont, City of Sydney, The Rocks, Darlinghurst and Alexandria were on scene in minutes to find a fire in an office on the fourth floor of the nine storey building. The fourth floor was heavily smoke logged so while fire crews were extinguishing the fire other crews evacuated 30 people from the floors above the fire. The building's sprinkler system had activated which helped to contain the fire to the office. After extinguishing the blaze firefighters ventilated the building and assisted with the cleanup of water to minimise further damage. One person was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
