House fire at Minto
Published: 16th August 2007
This morning the NSWFB received numerous Triple Zero (000) calls to a house fire at Dunlop Way in Minto. Fire crews from St Andrews, Campbelltown and Ingleburn immediately responded followed by the hydraulic ladder fire engine from St Andrews. Upon arrival firefighters found a complex of four, two level, residential villas with one villa on fire and adjoining villas threatened by possible fire spread. Smoke was billowing from the roof cavity and upper level windows of these villas. Firefighters used fire hoses to contain and extinguish the blaze while other crews conducted a search in villa one. Firefighters then conducted a search of the remaining three villas. All persons were accounted for and no injuries were reported. The hydraulic ladder fire engine was used to ventilate the roof of the villas to control the lateral spread of fire through the roof cavity to the remaining three villas. Due to the structural instability of the villas, the hydraulic ladder fire engine was used to extinguish hotspots as well as attach tarps to the fire affected roof.
