School fire at Cromer
Published: 14th August 2007
Just after noon firefighters from Narrabeen, Dee Why, Manly and Forestville responded to a fire at a school on South Creek Road at Cromer. The first crews arrived to find flames leaping from the roof of the two storey building. Firefighters concentrated their efforts on preventing the fire spreading through the roof area and containing the blaze to the upper classroom. An evacuation of 168 teachers and students to a nearby oval, while firefighting operations were carried out, went smoothly with no reports of any injuries. After the fire was extinguished fire crews carried out clean up work to remove water and to limit further damage to the school building and its contents.
