Mayfield West house fire

This evening fire crews from Mayfield West, Waratah, Newcastle, Hamilton and Lambton responded to a house on fire in Carandotta Street at Mayfield West. The first fire crews to arrive found the house ablaze with reports of people still inside the house. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used fire hoses to contain and extinguish the fire while fire crews conducted a search of the building. Tragically one person was found inside the house. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
