Building fire in Orange

Published: 26th July 2007

Firefighters from Orange responded to an automatic fire alarm, activated by the building's fire detection system, at a three level building in Summer Street in Orange. When fire crews arrived the ground floor was smoke logged from a fire in a kitchen microwave and several people from the building had evacuated. After extinguishing the fire and removing the microwave, fire crews began ventilating the building and checking on each of the occupants. Each room was checked using a gas detector to make sure that the atmosphere was clear. Two staff members and one resident were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
