Surry Hills restaurant fire

A fire in the kitchen of a restaurant this afternoon on Crown Street in Surry Hills required the attendance of fire crews from Redfern, Alexandria and City of Sydney. Firefighters were at the scene of the fire within five minutes to find smoke coming from the ground floor restaurant of the two level building. Using a fire hose and wearing breathing apparatus fire crews extinguished the blaze preventing the restaurant being totally destroyed. One person was treated by ambulance officers at the scene.
