Townhouse blaze at North Gosford

Published: 13th July 2007

This afternoon in response to numerous Triple Zero (000) calls firefighters from Gosford, Wyoming, Kariong, Saratoga, Terrigal and Berkeley Vale attended a townhouse that was on fire in Dwyer Street at North Gosford. Fire crews arrived within six minutes to find a fire, which was spreading to neighbouring townhouses, on the top level of the three storey townhouse. There were initial reports of two people still inside the townhouse so fire crews carried out search and rescue operations while containing the fire to the top level. One person was taken to hospital with burns and fire crews were able to determine that no one else was inside the townhouse. The top level of the townhouse suffered extensive damage but the adjoining townhouses were only slightly damaged by the fire because of the work of firefighters. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
