Published: 10th July 2007
This morning firefighters from Wagga Wagga and Turvey Park responded to Triple Zero (000) calls to a building on fire at a university in Wagga Wagga. When fire crews arrived at the scene they found that an explosion had occurred in a single level building that was used as a general purpose laboratory. There were several small fires inside the building that firefighters extinguished while 200 people where evacuated from the surrounding area by fire crews. An exclusion zone was established as the building had suffered severe structural damage. There were no reports of any injuries and the cause of the explosion is being investigated.
