NSWFB crews kept busy during storms and floods

Published: 8th June 2007

With powerful storms and wind buffeting the NSW coastal areas today, the NSWFB was called to help at 420 separate locations in just three hours, between noon and 3pm. Three hundred of those incidents were in the Newcastle area alone. The NSWFB deployed a strike team consisting of four fire engines and 20 firefighters and officers to Terrey Hills to support the SES as required. A second strike team of five fire engines and 25 firefighters and officers was drawn from the greater Sydney area to assist at Newcastle, while a task force of five fire engines crewed by 20 recruits from the Training College at Alexandria, and their instructors, were dispatched to the Central Coast.
