House fire at Karabar

This evening firefighters from Queanbeyan were called to a house fire in Southbar Road at Karabar. Fire crews reported smoke pouring from the house on arrival and that there may have been a person trapped inside. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus carried out a search of the house and found it empty while other firefighters extinguished the fire in the kitchen, saving the rest of the house. After ensuring that all of the occupants were accounted for fire crews assisted with clean up work to minimise further damage.
