Automatic fire alarm at Waverton

Published: 12th May 2007

Fire crews from The Rocks, Lane Cove and Crows Nest were alerted to a fire by the automatic fire detection equipment in a building in Bay Road at Waverton. Firefighters found smoke coming out of a rear ground floor residential unit when they arrived at the incident and received reports that there were people still inside. Fire crews went inside the unit to carry out search and rescue and to extinguish the fire. Two people were treated by ambulance officers, one person for smoke inhalation who was taken to hospital and the other for minor injuries. The firefighters contained the fire to the room it started in, preventing further fire damage to the remainder of the unit.
