Shop fire at Port Macquarie
Published: 9th May 2007
Early morning Triple Zero (000) calls alerted firefighters from Port Macquarie and Wauchope to a fire in a shop in Short Street at Port Macquarie. Fire crews were on scene within five minutes to see smoke pouring from a shop and other shops in danger from the spreading fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a fire hose to suppress the flames and had the blaze under control within 15 minutes. A total of nine shops were heavily smoke logged so fire crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for fire in the roof and adjoining shops. After ventilating all of the affected shops firefighters carried out clean up work to minimise further damage to the shops.
