Shop Fire, Campbelltown

Shortly after 3 am on 15 February 2006 the NSW Fire Brigades received triple zero calls reporting a shop on fire in Campbelltown. Crews from Campbelltown and Rosemeadow were immediately responded.
The Campbelltown crew arrived moments later to confirm large volumes of smoke issuing from the ground floor of a two level brick building and requested additional resources. Two fire crews from St Andrews and Ingleburn were sent to assist, committing a total of 20 firefighters to this incident.
Firefighters put on air cylinders to enter the building, search for occupants and investigate the source of the smoke. They found a substantial fire burning in a second hand clothing shop. No one was in the building.. The fire was contained within an hour and extinguished a short time later. The actions of the firefighters confined the fire to the shop on the ground floor and protected adjacent businesses. There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the NSW Fire Brigades Fire Investigation and Research Unit and the Police.
