The Leichhardt Fire Station centenary celebrations went off with a bang on Saturday 6 May. In an engine bay packed with past and present firefighters and their families the Commissioner, Minister and local MP Sandra Nori unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark 100 years of service to the Leichhardt community. The Commissioner spoke about the recent Annandale factory fire and the crowd was wowed by the remnants of an exploded LPG cylinder from that fire now housed at Leichhardt Fire Station.Local residents, firefighters and their families enjoyed the street parade. Celebrations kicked off with performances by the NSWFB Marching Band, Precision Marching Team and a procession of vintage fire engines. The Leichhardt Public School choir put on a fantastic performance for the crowd.
