Unit fires in Sydney
Published: 20th July 2010
Two unit fires occurred in Sydney this morning. Both of them were on the top level of three storey unit blocks. The first one occurred at 10:40am at Ramsgate Rd, Bondi Beach. Crews from Bondi and Woollahra responded and were quickly on the scene. The firefighters used their breathing apparatus to enter the unit and extinguish the fire before it could spread. Just after 11:00am, the State Communications Centre responded crews from Parramatta and Northmead to Church St, Parramatta, when they received numerous triple zero (000) calls to a unit alight. The firefighters were quickly on the scene again and were also successful in extinguishing the fire before it could spread. Two residents were treated for smoke inhalation by fire brigade and ambulance personnel at the scene and then one was transported by ambulance to hospital.
