On Sunday 14 February at around 3.00pm Fire Rescue Officers from Schofields and Blacktown were called to Quakers Hill Railway Station when it was reported that a 25 year old male had his foot trapped between a suburban commuter train and the platform. Fire Rescue Officers from Schofields arrived on scene within just four minutes and crews from Blacktown just three minutes later. They were able to place a rescue air bag between the train carriage and platform. The bag was carefully inflated, pushing the carriage sideways away from the platform and enabling the man's foot to be released. The rescue operation took 20 minutes to complete and the man was taken to hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
