Home fire warning following two fatal fires
Published: 28th November 2009
NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) Commissioner Greg Mullins today issued an urgent warning to all residents to check their home fire safety precautions following two separate residential fires which claimed lives on the Central Coast and in Wollongong.
"Tragically in the last 24 hours two people have died in separate fires," Commissioner Mullins said.
"Residents should ensure they have a working smoke alarm and have a home escape plan. Their home escape plan should identify two safe ways out of a room and a safe meeting point outside.
"A house fire can be devastating and potentially fatal. I urge people to review their home fire safety measures and practice their home escape plan with their family today."
