House fire Macquarie Fields
Published: 23rd September 2009
This evening firefighters from Macquarie Fields, Ingleburn and St Andrews responded to a house on fire in Melaleuca Dr, Macquarie Fields. Firefighters were on scene within five minutes to find a two storey townhouse well alight. More resources were called for and firefighters from Liverpool, Busby and the South West Duty Commander responded to assist. Initial reports indicated that there could have been people still inside the house, so a rapid search of the house was commenced. No people were located in the house. The fire was so intense that it was starting to spread to the adjoining unit. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire which was able to minimise this spread. The occupant of the house evacuated prior to the arrival of the NSWFB. This is a prime example of the importance of having a home escape plan. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
