School fire Tamworth

Around lunchtime today firefighters from Tamworth and West Tamworth responded to a fire in a school in Willis St, Tamworth. On arrival the firefighters have identified smoke coming from underneath a classroom. Approximately 200 staff and students had evacuated the school prior to the arrival of the NSWFB. After gaining access to the underfloor area of the building, firefighters extinguished the fire with fire hoses and portable extinguishers. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the underfloor area. Smoke had filled the building which firefighters were able to remove.
