Unit fire Port Kembla

Late this evening, firefighters from Warrawong, Unanderra, Wollongong and Shellharbour responded to a residential unit fire in Kembla St, Port Kembla. On arrival large amounts of smoke and flame could be seen coming from one of the units. Firefighters were able to rescue one of the occupants and treated them for smoke inhalation. Two other residents self evacuated before the arrival of the Fire Brigades. Firefighters worked hard to extinguish the fire and were able to stop it spreading to neighbouring units. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
