Unit fire Lambton

This evening firefighters from Lambton, New Lambton and Hamilton were responded to a residential unit on fire in Kalinda Cl, Lambton. On arrival firefighters were faced with a fire that had already consumed so much of the unit that flames were coming from the roof. The response was immediately upgraded and firefighters from Newcastle, Wallsend and Mayfield West also assisted. Extinguishment and search and rescue of the units were carried out. Quick action from the firefighters enabled them to minimise the spread of the unit. One resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and transported to hospital by ambulance.
