House fire Winmalee

Published: 28th July 2009

Late this evening firefighters from Springwood and Glenbrook responded to a house on fire on Hawkesbury Rd Winmalee. A fire that originated in a clothes dryer had quickly spread to the remainder of the house. On arrival fire crews found a large fire and set about extinguishing the blaze with a number of fire hoses. Having confirmed that there was no longer anyone in the house, the priority for firefighters was now on stopping the spread of this fire. The local Rural Fire Service Brigade offered assistance at this incident. One person suffered minor injuries and was treated by ambulance officers at the scene. This is a timely reminder about the importance of cleanliness and maintenance of clothes dryers.
