This afternoon the NSW Fire Brigades received numerous Triple Zero calls to a building on fire in Sheridan St, Gundagai. Firefighters from Gundagai responded and arrived on scene within seven minutes of the first call to find a motel building well alight. A rapid and aggressive fire attack was commenced by firefighters in an attempt to stop the spread of this particularly intense fire. Neighbouring shops and houses were evacuated due to the heavy smoke and fire activity. The NSW Fire Brigades were assisted by firefighters from the Rural Fire Service.
