Townhouse fire and a gas leak

Published: 4th March 2007

Fire crews from Huntingwood, Blacktown and Schofields extinguished a fire in a two storey townhouse at Doonside. The fire caused damage to both levels of the townhouse. A fire in a residential unit above a shop in Bexley was extinguished by firefighters from Arncliffe and Hurstville. A resident suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital. A contact thermometer, gas detector and thermal imaging camera were used by Tamworth and West Tamworth firefighters at a fire in an unloading hose at a Tamworth processing plant. The specialised equipment ensured that the fire had not spread into other areas of the plant. A leak in an underground LPG tank at Faulconbridge required one lane of the Great Western Highway to be closed and firefighters from Springwood, Lawson and Glenbrook to provided fire protection and assist with gas dispersal for several hours.
