Garage fire and storm damage assistance

Published: 6th March 2007

A fire in the garage of a two level house at Carlingford was brought under control by firefighters from Beecroft, Eastwood, Hornsby, Rydalmere, Northmead and Parramatta. The first fire crews to arrive were confronted by a fierce fire that was in danger of spreading from the garage to the rest of the house. Firefighters, wearing air tanks, entered the garage and protected the remainder of the house. Four residents suffered smoke inhalation, with two being taken to hospital. The NSWFB sent four fire engines to assist the SES with storm damage in the Thornleigh area. The firefighters completed in excess of 30 jobs during the day. Firefighters from Tweed Heads and Tweed River cleaned up a spill of paint under a bridge at Banora Point.
