Firefirefighters take part in Anzac Day march

More than 160 firefighters from the NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) will take part in the 2009 Anzac Day March in Sydney on Anzac Day.The NSWFB will first hold a remembrance service and wreath laying ceremony at City of Sydney Fire Station, a custom which has been practised since 1928.
After the service the NBWFB Commissioner, Greg Mullins, will take the salute from the contingent as it moves to the formation point for the march which starts at Martin Place.
During the march, the NSWFB contingent's long tradition has been to salute The War Widows gathered on George Street, as well as City of Sydney Fire Station firefighters and the Commissioner who will assemble on Bathurst Street as the contingent passes.
The NSWFB contingent will include serving and ex-services personnel as well as firefighters who are descendents of those who fought in major wars.
It will also include the award-winning NSWFB Band which performs extensively throughout NSW under the stewardship of bandmaster Mark Reay, brother of a former NSW Chief Fire Officer.
The NSWFB contingent will be led by Assistant Commissioner Bob Dobson AFSM, who has organised and led the NSWFB contingent in the Anzac Day March since 1986.
This will be the last year that Assistant Commissioner Dobson will lead the NSWFB contingent in the march as he is retiring after nearly 39 years service, with Anzac Day marking his last day as a serving officer in the NSWFB.
What: NSWFB firefighters take part in Anzac Day March
When: Saturday 25 April, 8am at City of Sydney Fire Station for the Remembrance Service and then 9.30am-1.30pm in the Anzac Day March
Where: The Anzac Day March starts at Martin Place, following along George Street and Bathurst Street before finishing at Hyde Park.
