Factory fire in Emu Plains

Fire crews from Penrith, Regentville, St Marys, Hazmat specialists from St Marys and the Duty Commander responded to a fire in a factory in Railway Street, Emu Plains this morning. Firefighters were on scene in nine minutes to find smoke pouring from the factory. Eighteen people had evacuated from the factory with several of them suffering from smoke inhalation. The fire was quickly contained, extinguished and the building ventilated. Five people were taken to hospital.
