Firefighter Championships set to go off with a bang this weekend

The wait is over! The 2006 State Firefighter Championships start on Saturday 21 October in Port Macquarie. Competition events and community safety activities will run until Friday 27 October, with thousands of visitors expected to attend.
Commissioner Mullins wished the 35 teams (approximately 200 firefighters) well as they prepare for a tough week of competition.
Teams will compete in sixteen firefighting related events designed to test the speed, skills and teamwork of NSW's finest firefighters.
Firefighter Championships are designed to educate the community about firefighting history and fire safety. Firefighting equipment, FireAir 1 – the NSWFB helicopter, hazardous materials splash suits, the marching band, kitchen fat fire simulator, a children’s puppet show, rescue demonstrations and other community safety initiatives will be on display.
All activities, events and demonstrations are free of charge.
