Published: 23rd March 2009

Firefighters from Kogarah, Arncliffe, Hurstville, Botany and the Duty Commander responded to a group of shops on fire in President Avenue, Kogarah this morning. Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received and fire crews were on scene in six minutes to find smoke pouring from the roof which cover five separate shops. The fire was contained and extinguished in one hour with firefighters accessing the roof space to ensure that the fire had not spread further. Fire crews assisted with the clean up (salvage) to minimise further damage. The fire caused extensive damage to the roof of four shops and investigations are continuing into the cause of the blaze.
