South Maitland house fire

Late this evening firefighters from Telarah, East Maitland, Maitland and the Duty Commander responded to a house on fire in Rose Street, South Maitland. Fire crews arrived within 10 minutes to find a fierce fire inside the two storey house and quickly confirmed that no one was still inside. Fire crews protected a neighbouring property, which was under threat of catching alight, while other firefighters battled to contain and extinguish the fire. Fire crews prevented any damage to other properties but the house that was on fire suffered extensive structural damage. Investigations are continuing into the cause of the fire.
