House fire in Belmont South

Firefighters from Belmont, Swansea, Tingira Heights, Newcastle and the Duty Commander responded to a house on fire this evening on the Pacific Highway, Belmont South. The first crews were on scene in four minutes and found a single level house engulfed in flames. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus worked to contain the fire as other crews carried out a search of the house confirming no one was inside. The building suffered severe damage and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
