House fire in Werrington

This afternoon numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received to a house on fire in Railway Street, Werrington. Firefighters from St Marys, Penrith, Dunheved and the Duty Commander responded to the emergency with the first fire crews on scene in seven minutes. The single level house was completely engulfed in flames, electrical wires had fallen and there were reports of the occupant still inside. Firefighters contained the fire to enable a search to be carried out which found no one inside. Ten people from neighbouring properties were evacuated during the incident. The house was severely damaged and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
