Factory fire in Condell Park

Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received early this morning to a fire in a factory in Eldridge Road, Condell Park. Firefighters from Revesby, Bankstown, Riverwood, Lakemba, Mortdale, Kogarah, Lidcombe, Cabramatta, Hurstville, Hazmat specialists from Greenacre and two Duty Commanders responded to the fire with the first crews on scene in nine minutes. The factory was engulfed in fire with flames leaping through the roof and explosions occurring inside the building. Two hydraulic ladder fire engines and numerous fire hoses were used to bring the blaze under control in less than one and a half hours. During firefighting operations crews had to deal with damaged power lines and keep a nearby LPG cylinder cool. Hazmat specialists monitored the water run off and the smoke from the blaze. The factory was severely damaged in the fire, the cause is under investigation
