Gas leak in Dungog

Published: 25th February 2009

This afternoon fire crews from Dungog, Hazmat specialists from Maitland and the Duty Commander responded to reports of a strong smell of gas at a high school in Dungog. As a precaution the school was evacuated while crews checked the area with gas detectors. After isolating the gas supply from the main cylinder to the science labs and kitchen the firefighters carried out a further check with the detectors. Once fire crews declared the area safe teachers and students returned to the school.
