Factory fire in Marrickville

Early this morning firefighters from Newtown, Marrickville, Leichhardt, Mascot, Glebe, Redfern, City of Sydney, Hazmat specialists from Alexandria and the Duty Commander responded to a fire in a factory in Murray Street, Marrickville. Crews were on scene in three minutes to find smoke in the street and quickly located the fire in a book binding factory. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the factory and quickly contained and extinguished the blaze. The smoke was ventilated from the building and crews carried out clean up (salvage) work. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
