House fire in Dapto

Firefighters from Unanderra, Albion Park Rail, Warrawong, Shellharbour and the Duty Commander responded to a house fire in Lakelands Drive, Dapto this afternoon. The first fire crews arrived to find smoke pouring from the single level house and there were reports of people still inside. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus contained the fire while other crews carried out a search of the home. Fortunately everyone had escaped the fire. The fire was contained to the one room, which was severely damaged, with the remainder of the house suffering heat and smoke damage. Crews ventilated the building and assisted with the clean up (salvage) work.
